In the shadows of gods and demons, a lone traveler traces where immortals once walked.
Three thousand years ago, the Heavenly Demon descended.
Immortals took action, triumphed, and successfully forced the Heavenly Demon to withdraw from the mortal realm. But afterward, countless calamities befell the world, spirit qi waned, and the immortals vanished. In their absence, the Heavenly Demon emerged once more, infiltrating the mortal realm with the identity of a god.
Slightly over a hundred and sixty years ago, a divine artifact descended. The fertile Chipa Plateau withered, and the once-unconquerable Panlong Ancient City fell to ruin.
Now, I have descended upon this world!
Following the traces left behind by the immortals, I shall defy the fate that was set for me at birth! I shall unravel the mysteries surrounding immortals and demons...
And it all begins with returning to Panlong City, to witness and experience its turbulent, tragic history.
P.S. This is a discovery-driven story with no omniscient voice. The truths of the world reveal themselves only as discoveries are made. This novel is steeped in lived‑in history and free of worn‑out tropes.

I recently took a peek at Where Immortals Once Walked because the translator’s description piqued my interest, and I’m glad I did. The story moves fast, yet you can still feel the weight of what the author wants to say. Just when you think you’ve got a sense of the path it’s heading, there’s a clever plot twist that had me laughing out loud—and genuinely surprised. The world-building is rich, the lore feels lived-in, and the stakes are pulled tightly as mystery and myth weave together. Big kudos to the translator for doing such a good job—your work makes the immersion effortless. I absolutely look forward to more.

So far so good. Currently at chapter 58. The characters are smart, the MC doesn't feel to special and OP. An interesting power system is being developed that's based on the collective well being of a nation and it's people as well as the morale of the armies that fight. There are a lot of bizzare magic stuff as well. But there are also undercurrents of nefarious stuff happening in the Empire and Capital that we will have to see how it's played out. The bad stuff is the classic transmigration that is completely irrelevent and there just for the tags, and the current macguffin of a magic divine bone.

Welp, dropping this review at chapter 76 and so far, this is a pretty good read.

Don't go in expecting any lore or history of the world and its power system right off bat; but I suspect most seasoned Wuxia novel readers will be able to put two and two together. The characters are pretty good and despite how little we know of the world, what we've learned already tells of a great world ravaged by the remains of gods, immortals and devils.

Last I checked Novelupdates, this novel has 2,410 chapters as of right now and I really hope this series can retain this momentum and strong writing into and past the 1k mark.

I might just be looking to deep into things but I've been let down by some very long running series with great starts. The two worse ones being The lord of all realms and sovereign of Three Realms. Both these series had banger starts with interesting follow up arcs only to fall apart well before the end

I worry if this series will be like that but I guess it doesn't really matter. I'll read it through to the end just like I did with those two.

We'll just need some 3 years and 40ish days lol. Thank God we're getting 2 chapters a day because this one is LONG.
