Review as of chapter 150.

The humor is split between crass humor and situational humor. Crass as in the MC is not a stellar person and thinks a lot of stupid/horny thoughts. Situational as humor based around small misunderstandings or lies being believed.

Spoiler:

If you don't find it humorous that the Main Character is afraid of a gay muscle man, then slowly warms up to him due to the man hitting all of his personal preferences perfectly, still being careful not to show any interest in fear it may become true, then mourning the loss of the burgeoning bromance when he suddenly turns out to be a normal university magic girl all along, then it won't work for you.

I’ve just finished reading the first 12 chapters, and I have to say, this book has been a surprisingly refreshing experience. I’ve never come across a story with this particular setting or atmosphere before, which makes everything feel unique and original. Honestly, I almost skipped over this title, and I’m glad I didn’t—it would’ve been a huge mistake. The plot is engaging, the pacing feels just right, and the world-building has completely drawn me in. So far, I’m truly enjoying the journey and can't wait to see how the story unfolds. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for something new and different—it's a real gem. Oh, and there’s magic, along with a subtle dark undertone that adds even more intrigue to the story.

The first 100ish chapters were great and I looked forward to the new chapters every day. The humor was crass but hilariously so, the side characters added a lot of flavor to the story with their own quirks and misunderstandings, and having a "father-in-law" always trying to turn Wayne into a concrete barrel was so amusing.

But then the author seemed to lose sight of what he wanted to do with the novel and characters. The tone abruptly switches from lighthearted nonsense to serious with occasional attempts at humor that fall flat.

Random stuff fails to get an explanation. An example is that Wayne starts off thinking he's a dunce of a mage, then understands later that he's really powerful... without any acknowledgment or explanation of this complete 180 in thinking.

The side characters that made the first few dozen chapters so funny... just kinda go away. They show up every few chapters, but as 2-dimensional single-minded characters.

Too many Batman references. It was funny at first but then it started to get forced. He got an undercover identity of "Bruce" given to him and gets a bat-like clone of himself. Really?

I still slogged through another few dozen chapters to chapter 150, hoping things would improve before finally giving up.
