After all the cliché novels I’ve read, this was a huge relief, though the number of chapters is still low, so I’ll wait for it to increase a bit more.
Let’s talk about the MC. He is not a loser, no one looks down on him, and he doesn’t have a tragic backstory of betrayal — which is good news, since I’ve seen so many novels where MCs start from the bottom and rise to the top that I don’t even bother reading them anymore.
To avoid misunderstandings, let me say this: The MC is not a genius; in fact, he is generally seen as crazy, and people seeing him that way… well, it doesn’t exactly count as a misunderstanding. The key word here is “exactly.” As readers, we know the purpose behind what the MC says and does, yet this man’s mental state is not very normal; I even think he has a personality disorder. He also has quite a mysterious master whose purpose is unclear. In that sense, it’s a very mysterious novel.
I think I should make a bit of negative criticism. Humor is the dominant genre in this novel, and you can see that in the narration. I am definitely not against it — in fact, that's why I read it — but the problem is that later the villain appears and says things like “I raped that woman at the wedding and killed her family,” and the novel suddenly shifts into dark fantasy. You start the chapter laughing and end it frowning. Okay, I’m not trying to read a Disney story, but there’s no need to exaggerate this much. Switching between these two types of narration is not a good idea, since they are quite opposite each other. It’s not a big problem, but I hope the author stops doing this.
Anyway, as I said, it’s a very good novel. I recommend it.
