What the fuck is wrong with Fengling Tianxia? How can you degrade after each novel you've written? By all means, you should improve after writing so much, even if you are basically writing the same template each time. But our great storyteller, Fengling Tianxia managed to outdo himself and put out of his ass this piece of crap.

As great man once said, "cultivation makes you retarded" - this work serves as another proof of that axiom. It's simply impossible to comprehend decisions made by any character in this novel. I'd bet that any LLM would be able to reason better than any of these characters; they simply don't seem smart enough to survive in that world.

It's not terrible, but the writing just isn't good. Everyone is dumb, including the schemers, except when the plot requires them to be smart enough to figure something out. The main character has all his past life memories except he doesn't remember who he was...how does that work? He had a six-century timeskip but everything is precisely as he remembered it; the only effect is that his old (human) homies aren't immediately available. He has very strong motivation and is dead set on his path, but there wasn't any build-up to it -- his character is told, not shown. The same goes for his thought process: you're told the premises and result and are left to fill in the rest for yourself. Everything is glossed over.

Another novel by Fengling Tianxia, who also wrote Otherworldly Evil Monarch, Realms In The Firmament and Transcending the Nine Heavens. Currently it's been serialized on Qidian with 1300+ chapters released and it's also known as "长夜君主" or "Lord of the Long Night". If you are a fan of his novels (especially TTNH), I think you can try to read Dawnless Sovereign, or if you like action oriented novels with OP protagonist, but with a simple plot. Maybe it's also suitable for readers who just recently started to read Chinese webnovels, but personally, I don't like it - I've read too much of this genre and now it's harder and harder to find something interesting to me
